Summer vacation offers students opportunities to discover new books and the pleasure of reading. Summer reading enables children to maintain the literacy skills they learned during the school year. There are many ways that parents can help their children continue the reading habit when school is not in session. We have provided links for summer reading activities and for summer book lists. Dear Parents:

The National Elementary Society is hosting its first ever donation drive for the Bethany House of Laredo. The drive will run from Monday, May 20, 2019 – Friday, May 24, 2019. We are asking for hygiene products to be donated as this is what they need most. A popcorn party will be given out to the classroom that brings in the most items. Below you will find the items needed from each grade level.  Items can be turned in to their homeroom teacher. Ms. Lopez and Ms. Golarte will be picking items from the classrooms throughout the week.  If you have any questions please feel free to email Ms. M. Lopez at and Ms. S. Golarte at

HSI – Laredo students will be taking the STAAR Tests May 13 – 15. Please make sure your child arrives to school by 7:40 am on these mornings well rested and having had a good breakfast. If the students will be having breakfast at school, please make sure they arrive at 7:15 am to have enough time to eat.

STAAR reports have been distributed to students.  Results are now available to view online through the TEA Texas Assessment Data Portal  for parents of 5th  grade students. Once receiving the report parents will find a unique access code at the bottom right. Parents are also able to look up student access codes using student social security number (without the dashes) in place of the PEIMS ID and date of birth information. The link to access the records is below. Parents should click on look up access code then enter student data information.

Al recibir el reporte los padres encontrarán un código de acceso único en la parte inferior izquierda del informe.Los resultados de STAAR están ahora disponibles para ver en línea a través del TEA Texas Assessment Data Portal para padres de estudiantes 5 grado. Los padres pueden obtener los códigos de acceso usando el número de seguro social del estudiante y la fecha de nacimiento. El enlace para acceder a los registros se encuentra a continuación.
