HPS-wide/ Regional Competition - Presented in partnership with FTW Robotics and Rice University, HPS Drone Race is the perfect event offering elementary, middle school and high school students an opportunity to get hands-on experience in STEM education in the form of an affordable, fast-paced game. Students will learn to safely operate a drone, work as a team, and research workforce applications of aerial robotic technology; all while having a blast!

FIRST LEGO League (FLL)

FLL (FIRST Lego League) is a robotics competition for students that combines robotics, coding, and problem-solving to engage young minds in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). Teams build and program robots using LEGO Mindstorms kits to complete tasks related to a yearly theme, which includes real-world challenges. In addition to robot design and programming, FLL teams also research and develop solutions for a specific problem related to the theme. The competition emphasizes teamwork, creativity, and innovation, while fostering skills in collaboration, critical thinking, and communication. FLL inspires students to explore STEM fields while working together to solve complex problems.

Spelling Bee

A spelling bee is a competition in which contestants are asked to spell a broad selection of words, usually with a varying degree of difficulty. To compete, contestants must memorize the spellings of words as written in dictionaries, and recite them accordingly.

Student Council is a student-led organization that represents the student body in schools. It provides opportunities for students to develop leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Members work to improve the school community by organizing events, planning activities, and advocating for student needs. They also help make decisions at their school, support charity drives, and create a positive school environment. Being part of Student Council gives students the chance to be leaders, voice opinions, and make a difference in their school.
